 Beloved
By Derek Webb
Tabbed by Jason Fobart [jason@fobart.net]
8/23/02
Capo3
C F Am Am/F# G D
E -X-X-0---0----3-2
B -1-1-1---1----0-3
G -0-2-2---2----0-2
D -2-3-2---2----0-0
A -3-0-0---0----2-x
E -X-X-X---2----3-x
There are lots of little hits/pulls on the B string during the Am, C, & F chords
in the intro and verses- add to taste. During the "solo" Derek plays the same
verse progression only adding a few more fun fills on the B and high E strings
on the 3rd & 1st fret- Chorus:
I'm unsure of the 3rd chord in the 2nd line of the chorus, I can't figure if
it's a funny G or a C that has the low E on 2 like the Am/F# before it, or what.
I'm open to suggestions.
[Intro]
C F C F
[V1]
C F
Beloved, these are dangerous times
                 C F
Cause you are weightless, like a leaf from the vine
         Am F
And the wind has, blown you all over town
                  Am F
‘Cause there is nothing, holding you to the ground
         Em Am
And now you, would rather be
    G C
A slave again than free
               F
From the law...
[Chorus]
Am Am/F# G
Beloved, listen to me
Am Am/G Am/F#
Don’t believe all that you see
Am Am/G Am/F# F
Don’t you ever let anyone tell you that, there’s anything that you need...
       C
But me
[V2]
Beloved, these are perilous days
When your culture, is so set in it's ways
And it will listen, to salesmen and theives
Preaching other, than the truth you’ve received
'Cause they, are telling lies
For they can not cirucumsize
Your hearts...
[Chorus]
[Solo]
[V3]
C F
Beloved, there is nothing more
                 C F
No more blessings, and there are no more rewards
                 Am F
Than the treasure, of my body and blood
           Am D
Given freely to all daughters and sons
Am D
To all daughters and sons
Am D
All my daughters and sons
Am D
To all daughters and sons
