More songs by Vigilantes Of Love

This file is part of a collection that (moreso than the rest of the site) are not meant to be detailed or accurate transcriptions of the original recordings. They're just some simple chord charts that I made for my own use, some of them my own arrangements.

Capo 3 in 6/8 time.
Drop-D-style capo (standard-tuned with bottom 5 strings capoed
and low E open two frets lower) in original key requires two
capos: capo on 1st fret for low E string bass note, plus
partial-capo the other strings at 3rd fret.

INTRO-LUDE:
G . D . Em . % D
C . G . Em D C %

C G
   Now I'd seen him despondent
     C G
A few times as of late
   C G
Sometimes the answer that love gives
          Em D C
Is the hardest one to take
     C G
I know he was prone to paint
       C G
The voice of his own fear
      C G
So Vincent he picked up the blade
          Em D C
And he put it to his ear

INTRO-LUDE

C G
Look at yourself in the mirror
              C G
You're all rumpled red stubbled and gaunt
              C G
You walk a dead end path in a dry corn field
           Em D C
   And now this morose response
        C G
Your princess she don't want to see you
           C G
No your princess she don't want to hear
      C G
So Vincent he picked up the blade
          Em D C
And he put it to his ear

                  D
Now look if you're gonna come around here
          Em
And see those sort of things
                C G
You gotta take a few on the chin
             D Em
You're talking about love and all that stuff
                 Em D C
You better bring your thickest skin
      D Em
      Sometimes you can't please everyone
                    C G
Sometimes you can't please anyone at all
          D Em
You sew your heart onto your sleeve
          Em D
And wait for the ax to fall

INTRO-LUDE

C G
You there with the paint box
   C G
You there with paper and pen
  C G
Me I got this blunt instrument
             Em D C
I'm gonna play on till the end
           C G
And you know you come with empty hands
      C G
Or you don't come at all
                 C G
You deal your best hand out in the marketplace
               Em D C
   And let the chips fall
       C G
The package it comes wrapped up
         C G
   There is a lesson here
   C G
Vincent he picked up the blade
          Em D C
And he put it to his ear

                  D
Now look if you're gonna come around here
          Em
And say those sort of things
                C G
You gotta take a few on the chin
             D Em
You're talking about sin and redemption
                 Em D C
You better wear your thickest skin
      D Em
      Sometimes you can't please everyone
                    C G
Sometimes you can't please anyone at all
      D Em
Sew your heart onto your sleeve
          Em D
And wait for the ax to fall
